Meeting Minutes
January 14, 2023

Gathering began shortly before 10:00am in Helm 302. The meeting was called to order around 10:05am by Jim Ware.

In attendance: Lyon Bradbury, Dan Dorsett, Guy Ellis, Bill Foley, John Halton, Loys Mather, Paul Roscoe, Bob Voll, and Jim Ware.

We enjoyed fellowship time, catching up with each other and sharing pastoral concerns and donuts and coffee.

Jim presented an update from Education = Hope, the mission we have supported in Haiti. We have been asked to sponsor Mascary St. Fort, an adult student who is studying English. Mr. St. Fort is a worship leader and volunteer for St. Sauveur Episcopal Parish in Les Cayes. The sponsorship costs $200. Loys Mather made a motion that that we authorize $200 toward this sponsorship and the motion passed.

Loys gave an update on the Community Closet, a joint effort between Christ Church Community Cupboard and Central Christian Church which began in December. Clothing donated to the Christ Church Cupboard is transported to the Central Christian Watkins Building on Short Street where the clothing bank operates. It is more accessible than our basement.

There is a need for volunteers at Christ Church to move donated items from the Welcome Center to the Cupboard area in the basement where they will be sorted and transported to Central Christian. Loys will circulate particulars and we hope some members of the Brotherhood can help.

Dan reported that we have $581.68 available to spend.

Jim led us in a study of Matthew 3:13-17 using both the NRSV and The Message versions.
