Brotherhood of Saint Andrew

Christ Church Cathedral
Meeting Minutes
September 10, 2022

Gathering began shortly before 10:00am in the Great Hall at the cathedral. The meeting was called to order at 10:05am by Jim Ware. In attendance: Jim Ware, Bob Voll, Paul Roscoe, Sky Robinson, Addison Hosea, Rev. Charles Halton, Bill Foley, Guy Ellis, Dan Dorsett, Len Cox, and C.B. Baize.

Jim thanked the Brotherhood for the tremendous effort in making Rally Day a success. From set up through cooking, serving and cleanup the Brotherhood did a great job. There were a few leftovers (burger patties, hot dogs, bags of chips, buns) that were contributed to Lighthouse Ministries.

Jim thanked Addison for the new BSA website. Updated events and pictures will be added

We discussed involving youth members as we are “a ministry among men and boys.” Sky pointed out that this is a priority for the Youth Program, as expressed by Youth Minister Ondie Vinson, and Rev. Charles mentioned that a service project is required of confirmands. Perhaps we can find opportunities for youth be a part of our ministry and serve with us in some way.

Bob Voll reported that the Living Arts and Science Center will hold dia de los Muertos (day of the Dead) activities at the Old Episcopal Burying Ground on November 1. This will be the first such event at the OEBG in three years due to the pandemic. The event is expected to draw up to 2,000 visitors. We need to get the space cleaned up and ready. There will be a workday on October 16 to prepare. We will discuss this in greater detail at our October meeting. Dan reported that we have $381.68 available to spend after reimbursing Addison $42.34 for a two-year renewal of our website domain name.

Living out our commitment to study and reflection, Rev. Charles led us in a study of Luke 15:1- 10 using both the NRSV and The Message versions. Once again, a great discussion.

Next meeting: 10:00am October 8, 2022.

Following Closing Prayers from Devotional Handbook, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Dan Dorsett, Secretary
