2020 October

Brotherhood of Saint Andrew

Christ Church Cathedral
Meeting Minutes
October 10, 2020

The meeting was called to order at 10:00am via Zoom. In attendance: Will Berry, Lyon Bradbury, Len Cox, Tom Crehore, Dan Dorsett, Guy Ellis, Addison Hosea, Dave Jaquith, John Kuzmik, Loys Mather, Sky Robinson, Paul Roscoe, Wendell Snyder, Jim Ware, and special guest Tom Welch.

Jim welcomed everyone and introduced Tom Welch, Executive Director of the Brotherhood who works out of the Louisville office but today joined us from Oxford, MS.

Dan gave a financial report: $484.02 available as of today.

Open discussion followed, a chance for everyone to catch up and a few pastoral concerns.

Jim mentioned the need for a work day at the OEBG. He will meet with OEBG Vestry Liaison (and Brother) Richard Giles next week to explore when, how, etc.

Tom Welch brought us up to date on the Brotherhood from a national perspective. Membership has increased the last few years but might not grow this year due to losses and difficulty of recruiting during the Pandemic. Zoom meetings have brought chapters closer together and he predicts will continue on some level even after in-person meetings resume as it is a great way for those who are travelling or homebound to participate. He and President Jeff Butcher are attending as many virtual meetings as possible. Other activities: a new chapter development book, still planning to meet at national level with DOK in the spring, prior to General Convention, and a hard copy of the newsletter is now mailed six times per year instead of four.

Tom expressed thanks for our chapter’s work and Jim thanked him for bring us the national perspective.

Fr. Will Berry then led a bible study of Philippians 4:1-9.

The next meeting will be November 14. Watch for an email with the Zoom link (which will be the same as today’s link).

Following Closing Prayers from Devotional Handbook, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Dan Dorsett, Secretary
